Strength 2 Succeed Hedland Summary – 2016\17

Hedland V Swans 2017

Hedland V Swans S2S training commenced with a Launch two weeks ago with West Coast Eagles players Luke Partington and Josh Rotham.

Their first real hit out on the track began this week in a stifling 43 degree heat. The guys were really switched on despite the conditions and trained exceptionally well with plenty of breaks for hydration, amongst the testing and basic skill work.

The group looked fantastic in their S2S training gear and set a really high standard on the track with Hedland Kicking Goals trainee Shaquade taking charge along with some parent help and myself.

The guys really looked professional and their skills were as good as I’ve seen for that age group in Hedland.

We look forward to our next sessions and hopefully some of our boys will be selected for the initial Pilbara cohort of the NW State 16’s to be held in Broome. Regardless of their football ability the boys are learning some valuable life skills through the game we love and developing their already noticeable leadership skills.

Strength 2 Succeed Karratha Summary – 2016\17

The Karratha hub commenced its S2S program on November 8 2016.

The program consisted of 10 sessions with 4 of them being pre-Christmas. The program was well attended in what were very hot and trying conditions over the summer month period.

Some of the sessions included

·       Beep testing

·       1km time trials

·       Skill fundamentals

·       Researching Ultimate Athletes

·       Nutrition

·       Social media education

The aim of the program was to upskill our student’s knowledge of the game, fitness levels and how to prepare to be the best you can be for football and life. We conducted education sessions for the first hour then moved out onto the oval for the physical aspect of training.

The program concluded on March 7th 2017 as the students now return to junior club football.

We had 34 boys participate and 3 girls (2 from Roebourne).

3 of our boys took the big step and trained with SDFC Colts over summer which was a fantastic opportunity and learning curve
